The strong Bavarian sunshine spurred current leader of the MOTUL FIM Ice Speedway Gladiators World Championship Final 4, Danil Ivanov to a majestic display in front of a near capacity crowd at the Max Aicher Arena in Inzell, Germany. On Day one Ivanov was never really troubled and raced to an impeccable 21 points. His closest rival, fellow Russian Dimitri Koltakov finished second on 15 points falling a further 6 points behind and Dimiti Khomasevitch in third place with 17 points.A spirited attack from the three "home" riders, Gunter Bauer, Franz Zorn and Harald Simon saw all three reach the semi-final stage with Simon narrowly missing out on a rostrum place finishing fourth in the Grand Final. On Day two Danil Ivanov again took the honours increasing his overall World Championship lead to 12 points but it could have been a different story. As the riders had become more at home with the well prepared circuit the racing was very competitive resulting in a number of sometimes controversial incidents to keep Referee Marek Wojaczek busy.A high speed clash with Franz Zorn in heat 2 resulted in Ivanov picking himself out of the safety bales to see his rival disqualified. The final also seemed lost to close rival Dimitri Khomitseivich when Harald Simon crashed in spectacular fashion fortunately without serious injury but causing the race to be stopped. Ivanov made no mistake in the re run win with ease to crown a near perfect weekend. After his success in Assen it was a disappointing weekend for Dmitri Koltakov who had started the meeting only three points off the lead. Disqualifications on both days have left him with the proverbial mountain to climb when the series reaches its climax in Uppsala next weekend.
